◈ Intended Use The LISTER Rapid Biological Indicator System provides fast and reliable monitoring for STEAM, VH2O2, FORM, and EO sterilization processes used in healthcare institutions. The system consists of biological indicators, process challenge devices, and automatic biological readers. ◈ Safety and Precautions The LISTER Auto-Reader (BIOPT series) and related accessories are designed to be safe and reliable when used as directed. Please read, understand, and follow all safety information included in this manual and in the instructions for LISTER biological indicators listed in Table 1. Use this device only for the purposes described in this manual. · For indoor use only. · Do not use the device if it is malfunctioning or damaged. · Use only the specified power supply certified in the country of use. · Do not spill liquid on or into the instrument. Do not immerse the instrument in liquid. · Always unplug and allow the device to cool before cleaning. · Clean only the outer surface using the manufacturer's instructions. · Do not open the housing—no user-serviceable parts inside. Return to the manufacturer for repairs. · Only trained personnel familiar with the device and manual should operate the reader. · Avoid direct sunlight or strong incandescent light. · Keep away from sources of strong electromagnetic fields. · Do not use on vibrating surfaces. · Activate and incubate biological indicators within 1 hour of completing the sterilization cycle. · Do not incubate indicators if the ampoule is damaged before activation. Use a new indicator. · Do not remove or reposition indicators after insertion into the reader. · Do not re-incubate an indicator after the result has been determined. · Prevent contact with chemical indicators or tapes to avoid fluorescence contamination. |
